Femur Neck Fracture Treatment

What is Femur Neck Fracture Treatment?

A fracture of the femoral neck occurs primarily by an intense pain in the upper thigh and the pelvis. This will prevent the victim to walk, and sometimes the leg is deformed in the pelvis. To better diagnose the fracture, the doctor may do x-rays to better determine the precise location of the fracture.

It can prevent fracture of the neck of femur. The only means of prevention is to monitor the risk of osteoporosis. However, older people should pay more attention to symptoms or signs of the fracture. For example, one must consult a doctor if there is a decrease in size over 3 cm. Also, ask to perform a bone density exam, which checks bone strength, to better prevent the fracture of the femoral neck.

Treatment of a femoral neck fracture is surgical and must be undertaken quickly. Its purpose is to avoid prolonged bed rest in the elderly and the complications inherent in an asset (pressure ulcers, phlebitis, pulmonary embolism, incontinence, mental degradation ...).

Rarely, a tension setting of the affected limb will wait for a better time for an intervention.

In the elderly, the most common intervention is the establishment of a total hip replacement (known as arthroplasty), allowing immediate resumption of support on the operated limb.
More rarely, and only in case of non-displaced fracture, internal fixation is practiced by placing a plate and screws to secure the fracture.

Physical therapy that follows the transaction obviously plays a role in the recovery of walking. Sunrise and the early support are in order in case of total hip replacement.
After fixation, the support on the operated limb will be allowed until the third month.
After a few weeks of hospitalization, the patient will regain its original place to live, continuing physical therapy, often daily, to maximize the recovery of a good traction.
